Is Spirituality The Answer?
Times are changing in the world we live in. Hate, evil and disorder seem to be taking over by storm. We’ve all seen the stories on the news about the heinous acts that take place on a daily basis all around us. The question is, why is all of this happening?
Truth be told, there’s no specific answer to this question. It all comes down to perspective as well as opinion. However, my personal belief is that we are seeing the results of a global lack of spirituality. We’re becoming lost and as time goes on, we’re doing little more than digging our holes of despair deeper and deeper.
People in today’s society are basically at a crossroad. The direction they choose to travel can either have positive results or cause them to be swept away in the chaos that surrounds us all. So, how can you make sure you’re making the right choice?
It all comes down to your connection to yourself, those around you and the Divine. In other words, your spirituality. Keep in mind, I’m not talking about religion. There’s a common misconception that spirituality and religion are the same thing. While they may be similar, they are actually different in many ways.
Spirituality is based on the premise that we are all the product of a creator. Simply put, there’s something way more powerful than we could ever even begin to understand that created the universe, the world as well as everything else in existence.
Unlike most organized religions, spirituality offers freedom when it comes to beliefs. In fact, one person’s definition of spirituality will often differ from another person’s beliefs about it. This freedom allows people to discover a path that works best for their needs rather than blindly following a path that someone else said is the one and only way.
A simple fact about life is that we all have our differences. Each of us has our own path in life full of its own obstacles, challenges and circumstances. For this reason, it’s impossible to have an instruction manual that fits the needs of everyone.
This is exactly where spirituality becomes incredibly powerful. It gives you the opportunity to try new things and explore new beliefs without judgment. Think of it this way, it’s basically the perfect way to come into tune with the world around you as well as yourself.
As with anything else in life, spirituality takes a great deal of practice. However, the more you practice incorporating it into your life, the more positive results, enlightenment and connections you will experience.
The only way to determine whether or not the spiritual path is right for you is to give it a try. Don’t know where to start? Don’t worry because we’ve got you covered. Just follow the tips below and you’ll be off to a great start.
Tips For A More Spiritual Life
Acknowledge Your Creator – The first step in a spiritual awakening is acknowledging your creator. A belief in a higher power is essential when it comes to becoming humble and understanding that there are forces with power beyond what our wildest imagination could ever dream of.
Practice Compassion, Kindness And Love – Spirituality is all about love for yourself as well as others. As you spread kindness and compassion, your connections to yourself, other people as well as the Divine will become stronger and stronger. It is these connections that allow us to live as one in peace.
Reflection – Spending time each day reflecting on yourself and your connections will strengthen the foundation of your spirituality. The beautiful thing about your time for reflection is that it can be done in any way you like. Some may choose to pray to their higher power while others may prefer to meditate. Some people even choose to go for a long and quiet walk. The options are limitless. As long as it works for you is all that really matters.
During your time of reflection, it is extremely important that you look back on your day and determine if there were things you could have done differently. For example, were you as kind as you could have been? Did you practice maintaining a positive nature? Do you feel good about the choices you made?
You may not always like the answers to these questions but being honest with yourself will help you take accountability, learn from your mistakes and move forward with your life.
Drop Judgements And Learn To Accept Others And Yourself – If you truly want to live a life of spirituality, it’s essential that you are able to drop judgements and simply learn to accept. In all honesty, we all have our own flaws and make our own mistakes. That’s part of what makes life so beautiful and interesting. When you let go of judgement you allow yourself to become more accepting of others as well as yourself which in turn helps you not only see the good but help bring it out in everyone. The ultimate goal is to remain positive and this will help you do it.
Practice Selflessness – When it comes to spirituality, we’re all in this incredible journey we know as life together as one. Selfishness is toxic for the process. It’s important that you are able to genuinely care about the wellbeing of others and not just yourself. Don’t only wish for good in your life. Ask your higher power to bless each and every person in this world regardless of their beliefs or lifestyle.
There you have it. Some simple to follow tips that will get you off to a great start with a spiritual approach to life. Keep in mind, spirituality can take some time to develop and to be completely honest it’s not something that is ever really mastered. However, the more you practice it the more it will benefit your life as well as everyone else in the world.
The last thing I want to leave you with is a simple question…
